We were deeply disappointed to learn that Budget 2025 includes a cut to international assistance of $2.7 billion over 4 years — this is in spite of PM Carney’s pledge during the election that his government would not cut foreign aid.
This cut is so short-sighted. We know that aid is a smart investment – for the good of people and the planet and for the security of Canada and the world.
We must push back.
The Budget has made us very concerned about Canada’s pending pledge to the Global Fund. We are asking you to write your MP as soon as possible to tell them that despite the disappointing announcement of cuts to international assistance, Canada must nevertheless prioritize an ambitious pledge this year to the Global Fund, one of the world’s most effective tools to win the fight against AIDS, TB and malaria.
