For more than 20 years, Rwanda Women’s Network (RWN) has worked holistically to empower women for self-transformation and to promote gender equality. RWN’s mission is to work towards improvement of the socio-economic welfare of women in Rwanda through enhancing women’s efforts to meet their own basic needs.
Gender-based violence (GBV) prevention and response is a core area of their work. They provide psychological support and counselling, healthcare support, and referral services for legal and medical issues. They raise awareness of human rights and of existing legislation that denounces GBV. RWN provides programming and services for women and girls at their Polytechnic Polyclinic of Hope and Village of Hope centres, and they have created 17 safe spaces for women across Rwanda.
